Connecticut's 2026 Beach Water Testing Program concludes as of Labor Day. The program monitored water quality at state and municipal beaches between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Testing is performed to detect bacteria that could indicate contamination. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, local health departments test municipal beaches weekly. Guilford beaches, including Jacobs Beach, are subject to closure after significant rainfall when bacteria levels are elevated. When bacteria reach unsafe levels, beaches are closed until retesting confirms safe water quality.
